Innovation, Equity, and Empowerment in Global Health
Kirsty Le Doare is a globally recognized expert in maternal, neonatal, and child health, with over 20 years of experience in vaccine and epidemiological research, particularly in Africa. Her work focuses on infections in women and children, including those with outbreak potential, and spans the design and implementation of clinical trials. Kirsty has played a pivotal role in groundbreaking studies such as the PREPARE and PROTECT studies, which aim to advance vaccine platform readiness for new maternal and infant vaccines, combination vaccines, and vaccines targeting antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
As Co-Chair of the CERCLE Maternal and Child Health Preparedness Network, Kirsty drives initiatives to strengthen global health systems and preparedness. Kirsty’s expertise extends to her role as an Assistant Editor of the Journal of Infectious Diseases and as the Theme Co-Leader for Breastmilk and Immunology within the IMPRINT network, where she advances research on immunity and infant health. Additionally, she serves as a Consultant for the WHO Immunization, Vaccines, and Biologicals Department, focusing on maternal vaccines.
Kirsty’s work is characterized by her commitment to capacity building, policy development, and co-created education and training programs in the Global South, ensuring sustainable and equitable health solutions worldwide. Her contributions to global health research, mentorship, and leadership continue to shape the future of maternal and child health preparedness and vaccine innovation.
